The municipality of the town Kruševac is situated in the central part of Reppublic Serbia and covers the area of 854 square kilometers with 101 settlements and 54 local communities.

 

All inhabited places are situated in the valleys of the  West Morava, the Rasina and the Ribarska River, the mountain Jastrebac and on the slopes of  the Mojsinje and Gledić mountains as well as the mountain Kopaonik.

 

On the territory of Kruševac municipality live around 145.000 citizens and in the town of Kruševac with suburb settlements live over 75.000 citizens.

 

There are almost 50.000 employees in economic system of the town, more than 8.000 employees in private sector.

 

The year of 1371. when the Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović erected the town,  has been taken as the year of foundation and since than to the year of 1408. Kruševac was the capital city, the administrative, cultural, religious and military center of Serbia. The Despot Stefan Lazarević moved the capital city from Kruševac to Belgrade.

 

Kruševac is a strong economical center in this region of Serbia with various industrial economy as well as with tradition of manufactural workshops, trading, hotel and restaurants management, craftsmen which started in the first half of the 19th century. The following gigantic companies can be singled out: “Henkel Merima”, “Rubin”, “NIS FAM”, “Trajal”, “Župa”…

 

Kruševac has very rich historical and cultural tradition. The town was under the occupation of the Turks from 1454. untill 1813. when it became free. In the World War I, Kruševac was liberated on 15th of October, 1918. from the Austro-Hungarian occupation and on 14th of October, 1944 from the Germans in the World War II.
